The Paediatric Service is seeking to recruit a motivated, dynamic, forward thinking Consultant Paediatrician, to join the team at Withybush Hospital, Haverfordwest.This is a replacement full-time post to support the reconfiguration of the child health service and develop the provision of acute paediatric services in West Wales. You will join colleagues in a very dynamic and forward-looking General Paediatrics department. The neonatal service has merged across the units in the 3 counties to enable BAPM standards are met, and provide ongoing paediatric training. The SCBU (based at Glangwili) plays its part in the South Wales Neonatal network, with CHANTs providing transportThis post is primarily based in Pembrokeshire with agreement to provide an on-call element of care (to include Consultant of the Week) for children and young people based in Carmarthenshire.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UlJBRPlv9a0Main duties of the jobThis full time position at Hywel Dda University Health Board with be predominately based in Withybush Hospital (Pembrokeshire) with some scheduled on-call clinical commitments at Glangwili. The split is 7 DCC and 3 SPAs.There will a requirement to contribute to 1:12 consultant of the ward week covering acute paediatrics and SCBU along with safeguarding medical referrals.The on call is on spilt weekends on 1 in 8 specific to this job and based at Glangwili Hospital. They will take direction in these activities via the appropriate academic lead. The agreement to define the Honorary Academic responsibilities and associated programmed activities in relation to teaching time and research will be negotiated jointly between the post holder, the university and the Health Board. It will form part of the successful candidates job plan.   • Full GMC Registration and Licence to Practise
  • On Specialist Register/SpR due to obtain relevant CCT/CESR(CP) within 6 months of interview
  • MRCPCH
  • Valid certified advanced life support skills
  • Safeguarding level 3 training

  • Appropriate Higher Degree e.g. MD, PhD or MSc or equivalent

  • Broad based experience in General Paediatrics and Neonates
  • Knowledge of UK hospital systems (or equivalent)
