Applications are invited for a substantive consultant ophthalmologist post specialising in Cornea.The successful candidate will join an established prestigious tertiary service and will also provide general and emergency ophthalmic services.
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with appropriate fellowship training and qualifications. This is a 10.0 PA (8.0 PA of direct clinical care and 2.0 of supporting professional activities) appointment. The post is at The Royal Liverpool University Hospital and at Aintree University Hospital site, which are part of the Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (LUHFT).
St. Paul’s Eye Unit is a vibrant and innovative department. The successful applicants will join a group of over thirty substantive consultants including five clinical academics at consultant level.
The proposed start date for this appointment is 1stMarch 2024.
Duties will comprise providing a Corneal service and leading the Cataract service. The post holder will be expected to undertake regular high volume cataract lists. It is expected that the post-holder will also help develop the Keratoconus service in terms of virtual clinics and a childrens’ Keratoconus service. The post-holder will also undertake research in this Corneal and Cataract and Refractive surgery. Other duties include administration, developing ophthalmology in LUFT, supervision, teaching and training ophthalmologists, optometrists, nurses and orthoptists, undertaking research and taking on roles within both the Trusts (RLUH and Aintree).
Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was created on 1 October 2019 following the merger of two adult acute Trusts, Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust.

Qualifications
Primary medical degree.
Post-graduate ophthalmic qualification. CCT (or equivalent) in ophthalmology.
Full GMC registration and licence to practise.

EU or RCOphth Certificate for Laser Refractive certificate or equivalent qualification
