Consultant Community Paediatrician (neurodisability)

£82,096 - £110,683 + NHS terms and conditions plus pension
Base location TBC in Wiltshire + with opportunity for remote working

10PA post - less-than-full time applications or job-sharing arrangements may be considered

We are offering a relocation package of up to £5000 subject to successful probationary period, performance review and terms and conditions.

As a Consultant Community Paediatrician in Virgin Care Wiltshire you’ll join a tight-knit, supportive team where you’ll be working as part of the health care system in Wiltshire where we deliver services across the child health department. Within the team, you’ll be provided with support and flexibility to allow you to fit your life into your work. This is a team with a strong reputation for development and training, and a passion for higher education; there are 4 colleagues with Master’s and we have promoted Doctors to Associate Specialists posts. We pride ourselves on nurturing people into leadership, giving you the opportunity to be the best that you can be. Our current clinical lead is an Associate Specialist.

Your days will be varied and fulfilling and may include:

  • Delivering developmental paediatric clinics, assessing children with a range of concerns that are affecting their development or educational potential, in accordance with our established referral criteria. This includes medical assessments for the SEND process.
  • Contributing to multidisciplinary assessment and management in a collaborative way with all members of the team for initial assessments and follow-ups where relevant.
  • Being responsible for performing medical assessments of children referred by the police or children’s social care where there are safeguarding concerns.
  • Performing medical examinations in relation to assessments of Looked After Children, to collate information from other clinicians and complete the relevant forms within specifiedstatutory time limits.

You will have a recognised medical degree, full GMC registration and currently/be within 6 months of obtaining CCT, MRCPCH/MRCP or equivalent. We would welcome colleagues with a subspecialty interest, particularly individuals with experience or interest in diagnosing and supporting the families of children with neurodisabilities.

If the successful applicant has other strengths within community paediatrics, the job plan could be adapted to fit these strengths and to the needs of the whole department.
