Residues and Analytical Chemistry Specialist

ERM is seeking an experienced Residues and Analytical Chemistry Specialist to join our well-respected team in Europe. This is a great opportunity to join a consultancy with a strong track record of advising clients in the chemical sector, with a focus on agrochemicals, biocides and REACH, to help them to navigate the complexities of the EU regulatory environment.

ERM offers the full range of consulting services including data gap analysis, study monitoring, preparation and submission of dossiers and post-submission support. Working with clients in the agrochemical, general chemical and biocides sectors, this person will design, manage and monitor analytical chemistry and residue studies that cover a wide range of areas, such as; metabolism, crop residue, processing, livestock feeding and crop rotation to form a critical part of a registration package. Knowledge to allow provision of client advice on the need for residues data would be of benefit. A key part of the role is the evaluation of consumer dietary risk assessment utilising current EU models. An understanding of Global data requirements in the Consumer Risk area is desirable. You will have the opportunity to further develop your expertise working with professionals with extensive industry experience designing studies to help our clients maximise the future flexibility of their data package.

Role Responsibilities

Provide a high quality residues and analytical chemistry consultancy service to clients and to other ERM staff to meet regulatory and business needs.
  • Undertake evaluation and summarisation of residues and analytical chemistry data for regulatory submissions
  • Advise clients on residues and analytical methods strategies
  • Prepare positions and provide advocacy on residues and analytical chemistry issues in response to questions from clients or regulatory authorities
  • Work closely with Project Managers and other members of the team to ensure Client and regulatory deadlines are met
  • Work closely with other ERM experts to maintain awareness of projects and general issues
  • Attend project meetings with Clients, represent ERM at conferences, participate in expert groups relevant to expert area, as appropriate
  • Ensure awareness of the latest developments in all areas of residues and analytical chemistry and the potential regulatory impact
  • Maintain/develop expertise in agrochemicals and other areas, according to the requirements of the business
  • Assist in the personal development of other members of the ERM team, as appropriate
  • Develop/maintain relationships with experts in regulatory authorities
  • Undertake other scientific and administrative tasks on occasion, where this benefits the business as a whole
Skill And Experience Requirements
  • Educated to degree level within Chemistry or other related disciplines
  • Experienced with EU data requirements for residue chemistry, method validations and the preparation and support of dossiers. Knowledge of glabal requirements desirable.
  • Practical knowledge of designing, and ideally conducting, all residue study types
  • Experienced in analytical methods (including validation), plant metabolism and dietary risk assessment
  • Strong commitment to delivering high quality work that exceeds clients’ expectations
  • Dedication to safety, including following established Health and Safety protocols
  • Effective written/verbal communication and organisation/analytical skills
  • Experienced in recording/writing detailed technical data and reports
  • Ability to multi-task and work in flexible manner
