OVERVIEW:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a construction project manager to run a new flagship recycling plant for Lush. Currently sited in an existing unit within Poole, the plan is for a large upscaling in what we believe is revolutionary for the cosmetics industry and that is to be accountable for the waste we create.

Lush creates 1700 tonnes of waste per year from our sites in Poole, we currently have a 75% recycling rate and with this investment into our infrastructure aims to increase this rate and be leading the way in accountability and waste management.

This project will showcase everything innovative and ethical and how Lush is influencing and leading positive environmental impact, taking waste responsibility into our own hands.

You could be part of the cosmetic and waste revolution.

Consideration to be given throughout this flagship project as to how it could be replicated in different markets in the likelihood that other global flagship recycling plants will be opened and learnings and best practice from the UK to be handed over.

You would be reporting through to the project lead and major stakeholders. It is crucial you will have a clear understanding of the business critical functions and it’s priorities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

End to end service

  • Multi skilled approach providing a smooth delivery
  • Supporting with the operating procedures for all departments
  • Overseeing the moves from departments into the new space.
  • Ensuring internal processes are followed and documents and folders are accurately completed for historical use
  • Multiple cross department work - bringing efficiencies and alignment in processes.
  • Experience of and ensuring correct contracts are in place for safeguarding of the business.
  • Ensuring the set budget is managed effectively whilst meeting all needs.
  • To collaborate with the relevant teams involved to ensure requirements are met and delivered.
  • Reporting of Capex spends according to internal finance, property systems and overall project lead

Construction, buying, ethics, environment and manufacture management
  • Overseeing construction management including external consultants, contractors and space planner
  • Closely working with external mechanical engineers and internal engineers to deliver Lush vision.
  • Onsite management inc H&S and safeguarding
  • Experience of and working parallel with quantity surveyors
  • Experience of and ensuring correct contracts are in place for safeguarding of the business.
  • Management of dept closures, moves and where required dilaps
  • Value engineer construction costs to support design and to meet business needs
  • Review existing pool of go to manufacturers and suppliers that meet the project requirements and bring in new if needed.
  • Management of fixtures & fittings including sourcing, manufacture, delivery & installation
  • Bring Lush ethics into every collaborative decision
  • Collaborate with your teams for continued development of materials, sourcing and costs to suit business requirements and ensure we use materials that are fit for purpose, running trials where needed

Production, efficiency and quality

  • Providing practical project support for any changes through process, innovation, safety and design.
  • Working collaboratively with Manufacturing & Services teams (PI, Environmental, H&S, Maintenance, Utilities) to support ongoing infrastructure, warranties, etc.
  • Delivering the best customer service experience

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

  • This role will require 2-3 days on site weekly, flexibility is key.
  • Ability to coordinate external and internal meetings when required but also to know when direct communications are needed to avoid time wasting.
  • Taking a holistic approach to the business, with the ability to adapt positively to change
  • Strong ability to self manage and see the bigger picture taking ownership of your role and responsibilities within the team
  • The ability to see efficiencies, simplify and implement change
  • Passionate about company ethics and our approach to sustainability and how we strive to improve this within our discipline
