Our Conference and Reviewing service are made up of a team of 13 highly experienced Social Work staff, who are supported by an administrative team, who sit within the Families and Children’s directorate.

Due to current government restrictions and guidelines, this role will be a mix of hybrid working including working from home, working across our hubs (where required) and at conferences (virtually and face to face)

About The Role

Our Conferencing and Reviewing Officers (CROs) are responsible for organising and chairing child protection conferences and reviews for looked after children, ensuring that there is clear focus on what needs to happen to keep children safe and improve their life chances. CROs also have a role in monitoring the delivery of the Child protection plan to ensure that children and young people do not experience drift and delay.

We are currently looking for an experienced social work practitioner to come and join our friendly and welcoming team as a CP Chair. This is a very exciting time to join our service as we have been working in co-production with families to improve how child protection conferences are held. We are leading the way in Wiltshire in taking a restorative approach to practice by promoting a culture of high support and high challenge with the aim that children can be safely cared for within their own family.

Do You Have

About you
  • Recent experience of working as a qualified Social Worker?
  • An interest in child protection work and working with children who are looked after?
  • Skills to effectively chair child protection conferences and children’s looked after reviews?
You will need to be confident in identifying and constructively challenging any practice that does not keep children safe or put their interests first.

You will need to have the skills and ability to listen to; and understand, children and young people’s views. Be able to communicate effectively with children and young people of all ages, whilst being able to ensure that all partners contribute to keeping children safe and improving their lives.

  • A 10% market supplement payment is applicable to Conference and Reviewing Officers. This market supplement payment recognises the market pay rate for roles in this area of children’s services. All market supplement payments are subject to review on an annual basis.
