Role Aims:

To deliver a high quality ‘waking out-of-hours concierge and security service, responsive to the operational needs of the supported housing project, dispersed properties linked to the project and floating support clients. To provide a service, which enhances the safety and security of the building, the dispersed accommodation properties and the floating support clients in their own properties.

Key Responsibilities:

Site Security and Caretaking

  • To provide a polite and professional concierge and reception service to all callers or visitors to WHAG
  • To provide a thorough electronic handover to day staff, alerting colleagues to significant issues promptly
  • To support staff at other 24-hour sites and share best practice.
  • To monitor CCTV at the project the post is based and to remotely monitor CCTV at other SSP accommodation sites.
  • To download CCTV to be used in evidence as directed by the Operation Manager.
  • To monitor the security and safety of SSP premises on an ongoing basis.
  • To monitor the communal internal and external areas of the supported housing project and support clients in managing who is given access to the premises.
  • To make regular visual inspections of all internal and external communal areas of the supported housing project.
  • To carry out occasional emergency visits to dispersed /other accommodation as required.
  • To assist customers in maintaining the security of their dwelling, and communal areas, and to reduce or eliminate any noise or disturbance.
  • To deal with emergency situations, such as floods, leaks, and power cuts etc. in an appropriate manner.
  • To report emergency repairs to the repairs service promptly and liaise with emergency contractors as required.
  • To report all witnessed criminal activity to the Police and provide all appropriate evidence including witness statements.
  • To clean spillages and broken glass from sites as required.
  • To undertake light cleaning duties if necessary.
  • To respond to internal security and fire alarms in accordance with WHAG’s guidelines and follow the procedures to be applied in the event of fire alarm/Intruder alarm activation.
  • To work closely with other colleagues at the supported housing project, the Operations Manager, Police and other relevant local agencies.
  • To ensure that WHAG’s buildings, furniture, fittings and equipment are maintained to a high standard, reporting any defects to your Line Manager.

Administration and Recording

  • To maintain a log of events in the prescribed manner according to WHAG’s procedures. To record information appropriately and pass on relevant information to colleagues/team members.
  • To monitor the phone and deal with left messages and enquiries appropriately.
  • To report and record Health and Safety checks as instructed by the Line Manager.
  • To provide other colleagues with timely reports of all incidents involving clients who are not complying with the terms of the tenancy agreement around anti-social behaviour and site security.
  • To carry out shredding and such minor administrative tasks as directed by the Line Manager.

Training and Development

  • To participate in training according to needs identified with your Line Manager.
  • To participate in one-to-one supervision sessions and annual performance appraisals with your Line Manager.
  • To participate in policy and strategic development for the organisation and individual schemes in conjunction with other colleagues and managers.
