Job Description Summary

This position is responsible for managing coverage complaints which arise within the Claim function ensuring that they are dealt with in a timely fashion and within agreed time frames. The role requires direct interaction with internal customers as well as providing optimal solutions to resolve coverage complaints. The position will require liaison with regulatory and industry bodies as well as the ability to handle coverage litigation referrals or advice as and when required.

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Reviews and responds to coverage complaints on referral from the Claim department
  • Liaises with relevant regulatory and industry bodies in relation to complaints
  • Provides timely reporting on Complaint statistics to Head of Claim Legal and other business partners
  • Works with other stakeholders to ensure complaint process remains agile at all times
  • Provides training on complaint handling as required
  • Responsible for reviewing and making necessary changes or updates to the complaint handling process
  • Handles coverage litigation referrals and provides advice

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree - law preferred.
  • Bar vocational course/CILEX/LPC.
  • Demonstrable experience in private practice or in-house legal department at Associate level or minimum, paralegal level.
  • Strong communication skills required.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to prioritise work.

Education, Work Experience, & Knowledge

  • Experience working in a similar hybrid role within legal, insurance or the financial services industry.

Job Specific Technical Skills & Competencies

  • Proven experience in law, business, insurance, risk management and/or customer service. Experience with local jurisdictional guidelines and regulatory procedures within the financial services industry. Insurance coverage litigation experience and knowledge of court procedures in England and Wales.
