The role:

Are you someone who loves working with people and is passionate about making a difference to local communities? Marlborough Highways are seeking an enthusiastic person to join their growing team as a Community Engagement Apprentice. As an apprentice you will be supporting both the Social Value Coordinator and the Environment and Sustainability Officer with a range of tasks to support us in making a real difference in the places we work and with the people we work alongside. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to start or expand their career within a critical and rapidly expanding sector. No specific experience is required and full training and support will be given, however, the apprenticeship is a level 4 and requires you to have completed either A Levels, a BTEC or a level 3 apprenticeship to qualify. This position will include 8 hours a week release for study on completion of the probationary period. Some travel may be required so the successful candidate must be a driver.

The company:

Marlborough Highways is an established, independent and dynamic civil engineering company with 30 years of industry experience and expertise in public realm, regeneration and infrastructure projects.

We work with Councils, Local Authorities and Contractors in London, Essex, Cambridgeshire and the South East, delivering pioneering multi-million-pound trials and rollouts for large programmes and phased schemes through to smaller one-off projects.

What you will be working on:

· Manage the day-to-day administration tasks for both the Social Value Coordinator and Environment and Sustainability Officer.

· Support the Social Value Coordinator in delivering the social value strategy and promoting social value activities across contracts.

· Support the Environment and Sustainability Officer in delivering the carbon strategy and promoting carbon reduction activities across all Marlborough contracts.

· Data Collection- support with the monitoring and measuring of our performance and the success of both social value and environmental initiatives, including for individual contracts and the wider business.

· Data Inputting- monthly data inputting into our in-house developed carbon calculator (training will be provided). Keeping our in-house social value tracker up-to-date.

· Data Reporting- support in producing reports against a range of social value and environmental KPI’s and performance measures. Support with producing updates for client contract reports in line with client requirements and deadlines.

Who we are looking for:

· Computer literate with a good working knowledge of Microsoft packages – in particular PowerPoint and Excel. The successful candidate will be trained in how to use other IT platforms used within Marlborough.

· Good communication skills and the ability to engage with a variety of stakeholders, clients and individuals.

· Responsive and hardworking

· A team player, who is also able to work independently as required.

· Enthusiastic about working with people and supporting positive social and environmental outcomes.
