Cheshire East is an amazing place to live and work. As one of the largest employers in the borough, we are able to offer you a wide range of challenging and rewarding career opportunities.
At Cheshire East Council we are working for a brighter future – together and our commitment to you is that our workplace culture will provide a shared purpose, a well-led organisation with valued people succeeding together as one team and one council to deliver the best service for our customers and communities.
If you want to be part of our award-winning council and contribute to our ongoing success, have the flexibility and drive to enable us to innovate, are committed to working as part of a team and striving to deliver exceptional service wherever you can, we would especially like to hear from you.
As an equal opportunities employer, we welcome applicants from all backgrounds and want our workforce to reflect the diversity of our local communities so that we can all work for a brighter future - together.
Brighter Future
The overwhelming community spirit experienced through social action throughout the pandemic has connected the most vulnerable in society. By the combined efforts of local people, public, private and voluntary sector services to get the right support in the right places, we are going to build on the positive changes we have made in how we live, learn, work and travel in Cheshire East.
The Council has never embraced volunteering like it has now, it needs to deliver a step change to support the recruitment, development and involvement of our communities in to services through volunteering to help develop sustainable and resilient communities and to co-produce delivery of the Councils priority outcomes with the ultimate aim of reducing demand on public sector services and reducing health inequalities . This is an internal and external facing role which will require significant engagement and influence with a host of partners and communities at different levels.
We are looking to recruit a new team member into our Communities Team who takes an asset-based community development approach to working. With good leadership skills the Community Connector will have good understanding of local services and activities that are available in their local area, creating robust relationships and referral routes to any available services reducing barriers which may present themselves to access, which they can safely utilise and case manage vulnerable residents ensuring the support is provided and maintained. The Community Connector will aim to alleviate pressures around social isolation, food poverty, low level mental health support, fuel poverty and digital inclusions. The support requirements will adapt to the demands of the vulnerable cohort that benefit from the service. By connecting vulnerable people with trained, safeguarded and supported provision through volunteering and/or community-based activity we can connect communities together to reduce loneliness and isolation creating stronger and more resilient neighbourhoods.
