Do you want to make a difference to the lives of people in Manchester?

This is a rare opportunity to be part of Manchester City Council’s Corporate Communications team, working within the Press Office.

The role will provide a chance to begin a career in communications and develop a wide range of skills, including media management, PR, marketing, social media and web.

Ideally you would have PR, news or communications experience. However, this is not essential and you will be given support and training to learn on the job.

You should have good writing skills that are adaptable for a variety of audiences, and you should have excellent attention to detail.

You will need to be able to work flexibly, use your own initiative with little supervision in a busy environment.

If you have passion and want to work in a lively, hardworking team, then this could be an ideal opportunity for you.

Manchester City Council is committed to giving fair support to members of the Armed Forces and veterans, whilst recognising and remembering the sacrifices they have made. The aim of The Armed Forces Covenant is to ensure that the Armed Forces and veterans are not disadvantaged, when applying for vacancies with Manchester City Council. Armed Forces and veterans will be guaranteed an interview where they meet the minimum requirements for the role.

Manchester City Council values equality and works to provide a fair and inclusive environment for a workforce that is as diverse as the communities it serves. We want to further increase the diversity of our workforce, in particular the number of Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic staff and disabled staff at all levels of the Council. This advert is open to all applicants, and we would particularly welcome applications from candidates identifying with one or both of those characteristics.

If you require any adjustments to be able to engage in the recruitment process for this role, please let us know by emailing simon.walker@manchester.gov.uk.
