Communications Coordinator & Employee Engagement

The role

At the heart of our employee engagement activities, the Communications Coordinator & Employee Engagement will play an important new role at Immunocore. They will work across multiple teams – including communications, HR and senior leadership – to create and implement a vision for the employee experience across all of Immunocore globally. The role holder will have significant scope to lead a suit of engagement initiatives that are aligned with business/communications objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops, organises and carries out employee engagement activities, including internal and external events, virtual seminars and staff case studies.
  • Formalises an employee engagement plan in accordance with the objectives in the internal communications strategy and insights from the staff survey.
  • Participates in and champions the staff perspective communicated via Immunocore’s committee of employee representatives, the People’s Forum.
  • Works closely with the Oxford Site Team and the Human Resources department to understand continual staff needs and establish activities that fulfil and exceed those needs.
  • Supports staff-led volunteer groups – e.g. Sports and Social Club – to enhance their visibility through effective communication and the co-ordination of new and existing activities.
  • Works with the Compliance team to foster effective and compliant relationships with charitable organisations, industry bodies and community groups.
  • Feeds back to senior leadership with insights on staff sentiment, contentment and general welfare.
  • Assists the development and delivery of the internal communications strategy.
  • Supports content generation and leads content editing for the staff intranet.
  • Provides input into and helps deliver enhancements to the staff intranet.
  • Generates ideas and leverages opportunities for external engagement, such as scientific lectures/conferences, outreach activities and collaborative events.
  • Supplies staff-focused content for use on Immunocore’s social media accounts.
  • Other duties commensurate with the role

Qualifications:

  • An outside-of-the-box thinker able to turn ideas into real activities.
  • Significant event management experience.
  • Ability to juggle the longer-term, ’big picture’ objectives with immediate deliverables.
  • Project management expertise, demonstrating a meticulous attention to detail and an adaptable approach to changing circumstances.
  • A team-oriented mentality dualled with the ability to work autonomously.
  • Is proactive, shows initiative and is able to work with ambiguity.
  • Confident expressing ideas and the thinking behind them, as well as challenging other perspectives.
  • Comfortable communicating with senior leaders.
  • Natural copywriting ability.
  • An inquisitive personality, always seeking more information and eager to build a more comprehensive understanding.
  • Scientific knowledge or fluency highly beneficial.
  • Graphic design and/or web development skills an advantage.
  • Degree in a related subject, for example Communications, Human Resources, Psychology or Sociology (or equivalent experience).
