Due To Continuing Growth, We Currently Have An Opportunity For An Enthusiastic And Conscientious Commercial Vehicle Technician To Join The Aftermarket Department At The Lancaster Depot Working An Alternating Shift Pattern

Week 1: Monday to Thursday from 7am to 7pm

Week 2: Wednesday to Saturday from 7am to 7pm

Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, the main job function will be to undertake maintenance and repair activities on commercial vehicles/trailers of all types, to diagnose faults, carry out tests on vehicles and effect permanent and complete repairs.

Other Duties Are
  • To care for customers’ vehicles and property and seek to achieve the highest customer satisfaction.
  • To carry out all work in a safe, environmentally friendly and economical way.
  • To build a bank of knowledge and skills to diagnose faults, carry out tests on vehicles and effect permanent and complete repairs.
  • To share skills and knowledge to develop others within the dealership.
KEY TASKS AND PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

Skill Activities
  • Carry out work completely and effectively within manufacturers’ servicing and repair times or in the case of opinion times, those set by Workshop Controller/Shift supervisory staff.
  • Advise and report on vehicle faults and servicing requirements noticed while working on vehicles, including future servicing/repair requirements.
  • Note and record on job cards and other media as required, all parts, components, lubricants and consumables used.
Qualifications, Training And Experience
  • Served a recognised apprenticeship or other dealership approved training scheme.
  • Obtained a City & Guilds qualification or other adequate qualifications to NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance/Repair.
  • Experience in the diagnosis, servicing, maintenance and repair of motor vehicles, experience of working on Commercial Vehicles is required.
  • Receive training and maintain best practice in manual handling methods.
  • Organised and methodical approach to problem solving.
  • A care for and attention to, detail.
  • Undertaken manufacturers’ training courses and maintained knowledge of work methods and technical data.
  • A full and current UK driving licence is essential; a class 1 HGV licence would be a distinct advantage.
