  • Providing legal advice to a variety of stakeholders in respect of the projects function within Distributed Energy (DE), including tenders, acquisitions and general commercial agreements.
  • Providing dedicated legal support to the DE major projects function, covering sectors such as microgeneration, behind the meter solar and battery storage, electric vehicles.
  • Drafting and negotiating commercial agreements, including joint venture agreements, power purchase agreements (PPAs) and energy services agreements.
  • Advising the business on legal issues raised generally within the DE business.
What do I need?RoleTo be considered for this role, we would love for you to be a qualified solicitor (Ideally 3-5 years PQE) and have
  • A comprehensive understanding of the legal and commercial issues that are pertinent to the distributed energy business, renewable energy or utilities sector, the SSE Group and the energy market.
  • A broad experience of commercial matters (preferably in the utilities and/or energy sector) including drafting and leading negotiations on complex energy projects and associated commercial agreements.
  • You should have a passion to work as part of a high performing team, sharing knowledge, best practice and supporting colleagues as well as being comfortable working independently and leading on your matters.
  • A proactive and pragmatic approach to giving legal advice and support in a clear and concise manner and within timescales.
  • Confidence and resilience in your approach to your work, legal skills and knowledge as well as being willing to take an active role in supporting more junior members of the team.
