Halo Recruit are working in partnership with a Civil Engineering Consultancy specialising in Structures Asset Management, Engineering and difficult access inspections of the Rail and Highway infrastructure with offices based in Derbyshire, Swindon , Leeds and Devon.

We are currently looking for a Commercial Manager to join their team in Ilkeston Derbyshire, to lead and manage all commercial management to support the delivery of Highways and Marine and Utility projects, implementing commercial best practice to maximise contractual entitlement. As part of the team you will work closely with the management team to support on all commercial aspects of projects.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the Sectors management teams in order to support all commercial activities for all Highways, Marine and Utilities projects.
  • Support the sector heads, Finance Director and Commercial Director as required with commercial reporting and analysis, including forecasting to identify resource requirements.
  • Take the lead to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with clients, in order that their commercial requirements are fully understood and implemented.
  • Maintain regular liaison with all key stakeholders on project progress, conducting regular reviews with the client and the teams.
  • Participate in progress meetings and reviews in order to understand and monitor progress for all projects.
  • Support tendering and bidding activity as required, providing financial and commercial feedback to the business development team.
  • Implement commercial best-practice when pricing work to maximise value, minimise risk and cost to projects.
  • Utilise the CMAP commercial management system to manage project set-up and monitor value, cost and progress for all projects.
  • Ensure that the procurement and payment of suppliers and sub-contractors is captured within CMAP for all projects.
  • Ensure that applications, invoicing, change requests and any other commercial contractual requirements are accurately prepared and submitted in a timely manner.
  • Manage work-bank change and compensation events, ensuring that contemporary records are kept by the team to support claims, extensions of time and the evaluation of variations.
  • Improve the accuracy of forecasting, including cost-value reconciliation, WIP and cash-flow for all projects.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Desirable - minimum of 3 years* professional experience with NEC Contracts or in Commercial Management in project execution, preferably significantly more experience.
  • Experience in document control, reporting, drafting, negotiating and claims management.
  • Exposure to the engineering, technology or technical services sectors.
  • Essential - strong interpersonal skills and drive to succeed.
