What will my role look like?

Our Finance Department is expanding! We have a new opportunity available for a Commercial Finance Manager for above store costs, in this role you will be responsible for understanding the business costs, primarily those above store level including our UK head office shared service centre in Blackburn and regional offices globally. This position will lead the budget and forecast process for this area and work closely with department leads to understand the cost base and month results to drive efficiency and standardisation.

Reporting into the Head of Group FP&A, this role will bring insight to this key business area, with the role suited to a self-starter who can quickly develop business relationships and interpret data and results to bring the required focus and understanding to this central part of the group.

What would my main responsibilities be?
  • Develop and maintain strong and effective working relationships with department leads and wider Finance teams to help understand the businesses above store costs and drive efficiency
  • Monitor & forecast performance understanding key items and drivers
  • Prepare weekly reports including CEO updates
  • Prepare monthly presentations on performance which are clear and concise, and identify the key trends and drivers of the results
  • Analyse trends and investigate variances, including detailed labour analysis
  • Work alongside the management accounts team to understand monthly performance by region, by supplier, by department
  • Provide support and information to improve decision-making including scenario modelling
  • Lead and manage the annual budget preparation & presentations for this area
  • Other analysis or tasks as requested by the key stakeholders including Executive and board requests
  • Work with the Head of FP&A and FP&A Manager to create optimal financial models to support strategic decision making and long term forecasting
  • Play key part in the implementation of SAP Analytics Cloud including Planning, and actively look to improve reporting impact & by maximising the use/potential of the SAP analytics tools to reduce reliance on spreadsheets and manual processing of data
  • Continually review published FP&A best practice to support the evolution of EG FP&A

Candidate Requirements
  • Professional Accounting Qualification (CIMA/ACA/ACCA) or QBE, several years industry experience is essential
  • Strong business acumen with broad experience across the finance function
  • Strong communication and business partnering skills, comfortable communicating to stakeholders across all levels and disciplines
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic, rapidly changing business environment
  • Ability to multitask, and meet deadlines on a timely basis
  • Self-starter with a continual improvement attitude
  • Creativity, flexibility and an entrepreneurial mindset to the solution of business issues
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Strong MS Office skills, Advanced Excel is essential. BI Tool, OLAP and/or SAP Experience are desirable
