Commercial Director

Salary:£105,000-£130,000

Location: Peterborough, UK

The opportunity:

Lead the development and execution of commercial strategy for the IPSD-Medium external business. In this role you will work closely with the sales and marketing organisation as the role is responsible for the Commercial Management of the medium engines business and the strategies developed to support sustainable growth.

What you will do:

  • Manage a team accountable for the development of pricing strategies and approaches across all third-party route to markets supporting both the Cat and Perkins brands. Accountable for the commercial strategy of the medium engine business and any impacts that changing economic conditions have on the P&L.

  • The role interacts with Vice Presidents, General Managers, Product Managers, New Product Introduction Managers, Purchasing Managers and Engineering Managers which requires effective relationship building and communications skills

  • Champion the goal to maintain a market based competitive offering and lead initiatives from the sales organisation into the product group that are intended to support growth through enhancing the products and services provided to our customers.

  • Lead and champion improvements in the customer experience that underpins the strategy for long term profitable growth with our customers.

  • Build close working relationships across Sales & Marketing and the product teams to ensure the development and execution of strategies that generate positive OPACC contributions.

  • Monitor and execute NPI deliverables, ensuring robust business cases are established and cross functionally executed to achieve the NPI objectives.

  • Develop annual pricing and planning assumptions ensuring that the execution of the annual pricing process is defect free. Build up a complete business profile from the annual planning process to demonstrate the impact from the economic environment.

  • Support the monthly S&OP process from the external businesses and provide intelligence relating to changes in demand to each of IPSD’s medium engines manufacturing sites.

  • Reporting to the Vice President & General Manager the role requires the creation of clear metric to track the planned business performance vs. the actual financials and drive action where needed to ensure impacts are managed or used to improve the financial planning assumptions.

  • Fosters strong customer relationships via delivery on commitments, open communication, and on-going feedback/improvement.

  • Advises others on creating customer focused environments in various scenarios.

  • Anticipates customer needs, focusing efforts to proactively meet needs and exceed customer expectations.

  • Measures and observes customer satisfaction levels to ascertain and implement service improvement alternatives.

  • Communicates and models the criticality of customer focus as an organizational strategy

Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.

Extensive Experience:

  • Demonstrates both empathy and assertiveness when communicating

  • Employs appropriate methods of persuasion when soliciting agreement.

  • Travel requirements up to 25%
