We are currently recruiting for a CTP Programme Manager to join the team. The purpose of this role is to manage and coordinate the OXB-led collaborative training partnership (CTP) for doctoral training (ABViP – https://careers.oxb.com/content/BBSRC-CTP/?locale=en_GB ). The role will include managing the relationships between OXB and the funders (BBSRC), as well as the academic partner organisations (UCL and University of Oxford); this will include oversight of all aspects of recruitment, cross-organisational management and coordination, CTP events and acting as the primary point of contact for the doctoral students. The role will work closely with the team responsible for CTP management, oversight and delivery, as well as take a key role in each of the required oversight boards


Your responsibilities in this role would be:


  • Maintain oversight of the CTP
  • Coordination of recruitment process for doctoral candidates
  • Coordination of scoping and selection process for future projects
  • Build collaborative relationships to understand the needs of the CTP, and its partners and funders (BBSRC)
  • Coordination of CTP progress reports and updates to the partners and BBSRC
  • Ensures the CTP is delivered within the agreed scope, timeline and budget
  • Ensures CTP milestones are met (to successfully train 24x doctoral students, with a coherent cohort experience)
  • Ensures CTP project risks are identified, communicated and effective mitigation actions are put in place
  • Provides project updates and performance data to CTP Management to enable effective strategic and tactical decision making.
  • Coordinates preparations for CTP events, as outlined in the portfolio agreement (as submitted to BBSRC)
  • Facilitate meetings, both internally and with external CTP partners (UCL, University of Oxford, BBSRC)
  • Liaise with academic and industry supervisors to ensure student needs are met where possible
  • Monitor, drive and report on CTP progress
  • Responsible for oversight, coordination and reporting of all financial aspects of the CTP, including liaising with the BBSRC and partners

To be successful in this role, you will have the following skills and experience:


  • Scientific Degree, with advanced qualification (ideally PhD, or equivalent). Project Management qualification strongly preferred
  • Significant Project Management experience, including practical experience of utilising project management tools and techniques
  • Pharmaceutical / biotech industry or academic experience preferable, with good technical understanding of biological processes
  • Experience of working in an external facing role
  • Proficient in use of MS Project and Excel
  • Ability to present on CTP progress, succinctly and with clarity
  • High level of personal integrity and ability to handle highly confidential information appropriately
  • Strong commitment to working in a complex multi-partner environment
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Good attention to detail
  • Self-motivated and tenacious
