Description

As Cloud and SDN Senior Engineer in Network Virtual Infrastructure Design (NVI) team we expect you to run data centre lifecycle for all the European Markets, in accordance with Vodafone strategy and focused on Virtual/Containerized Network Functions (VFN) and SDN needs.

As a member of NVI team, technology focus from design and best practices perspective will be (but not limited to):
  • Virtualization and Cloud native platforms overall;
  • VMWare Telco Cloud Platform components, namely: vCloud Director, vSphere, vRealize products (vRealize Operations, Orchestrator, Log inside and network inside), NSX-T, Telco Cloud Automation (TCA) and VMWare Tanzu Kuberneters Grid (TKG);
  • Hardware and software lifecycle management with focus on security;
  • Infrastructure in general (hypervisor, computing, storage, Network - physical or virtual);
  • Automation and CI/CD.
  • Design Backup Solution to support Telco Cloud Platform
From Deliverables Perspective, We Expect You To
  • Design infrastructure solutions based on the technologies mentioned above, considering efficiency, security, resiliency and automation, aligned with the peculiarities of NFV workloads (low latency, high throughput and resilience).
  • Manage the project lifecycle, coordinating suppliers engage with peers and other stakeholders during the development and implementation phase in accordance to the Delivery Management Process
  • Support on RFQs, definition of reference architectures, PoCs and FOAs to assure harmonization for all European markets and by ensuring new Infrastructure capabilities evolution design;
  • Engage with the different stakeholders (internal and external) as NVI expert, to assure NVI evolution (and adoption) aligned with Vodafone Strategy;
  • Run business cases to support NVI evolution.
Long Description

Key accountabilities and decision ownership:
  • Prepare mid and long term technology plan, in line with Vendor’s roadmap and technology evolution, to cope with customers’ and traffic growth ensuring service quality and network performance according to business requirements
  • Design solution High Level Design (CaaS, IaaS and/or PaaS) in accordance to Vodafone needs and aligned with best practices.
  • Evaluate Vendors’ technical and commercial offers and support Supply Chain/Vodafone Purchase Company activities during commercial negotiations with the Vendors
  • Prepare mid and long term financial planning activities (Network Evolution Plan and Short & Long Range Plan)
  • Support capacity planning and its continuous monitoring through Machine Learning techniques.

Must Have Technical / Professional Qualifications
  • Degree qualified
  • Several years professional experience in telecommunication or IT
  • Knowledge of data centre infrastructure, cloud computing and virtualization architectures (IT and Telco)

  • Strong focus on engineering and architecture of NFV/SDN solutions
  • Programming skills
  • Telco OSS/BSS Solutions
  • Knowledge of IT standards
  • ITIL, ETOM and project management techniques (e.g. Prince2) knowledge
