It is an exciting time within our vibrant and forward-thinking Department of Paediatric Clinical Health Psychology at Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust (RCHT). Due to successful recruitment in a new leadership role, we now have a vacancy in our team and would like to welcome a passionate and enthusiastic Psychologist to join us. The post holder will lead the development of psychological support in the teams caring for children with cancer, chronic pain and chronic fatigue. Recent significant investment in the Paediatric psychology team has resulted in growth , new services and real opportunities for working in creative and flexible ways.

We will support you in your personal development and career aspirations. We welcome interest from psychologists with experience at Band 8a, and those earlier in their career looking for a preceptorship role; or with experience in other areas of child psychology eager to broaden their skills and experience, and grow into a Band 8a role. The successful candidate will benefit from a wealth of experience and support from a vibrant and innovative team. We are a department that seeks to embody the RCHT Trust values and have expanded these values to reflect our professional training. We seek to value and respect others, work creatively and be engaged, thoughtful and congruent.

To support the members of the Oncology team in delivering psychologically informed care and providing psychological support to CYP&F with the most challenging and severe psychological difficulties. This will include active involvement in MDT meetings, consultation with professionals, liaison with other services involved in CYP care, direct working with families, supporting ward staff in supporting families during inpatient admissions.

To support members of the Chronic Pain team, and also the Chronic Fatigue service in their delivery of psychologically informed care. These services have a small amount of clinical psychologist time supporting their services, therefore the model is mainly consultation with the teams and offering extended assessments for families to work towards shared understanding and formulation of the difficulties they are experiencing and giving advice and guidance to families.

Enthusiastically contributing to the department of paediatric clinical health psychology as a compassionate member of the team, developing resources, modes of working (workshops, groups), creative and flexible ways of working with children, young people and their families and the professionals we work alongside.

Sustainability is integral to the Trust achieving the NHS Net Zero target. All staff are therefore actively encouraged and supported to implement new ways of working within their field of expertise.
