The RoleThe post holder will undertake care duties for patients in support of and delegated by the Registered Nurse, within a hospital or community setting. The post holder will collect blood samples by venepuncture or capillary route from patients within the Health Centre, GP Practices and Hospital. The post holder will be expected to work unsupervised although advice is available and accept referrals from a range of staff e.g. GPs, consultants, midwives etc.NHS LanarkshireHave you always wanted to work with NHS Lanarkshire?   • A certificate in venepuncture is essential.
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology is required.
  • Previous experience preferred.
  • Require intensive one-to-one supervised training for an initial period of three months and regular updating of skills thereafter.
  • High awareness of Infection Control policies and procedures.
  • Manual dexterity is essential.
  • Maintenance of CPR training.
It would be great if you also have
  • SVQ, NVQ or associated health-related study or working towards or willing to undertake SVQ training
  • Current experience as a nursing assistant in a health care setting
  • Experience in a hospital environment
  • Evidence of training in Infection control and Prevention
  • Knowledge of the Scottish Patient Safety Programme and quality indicators
  • Calm when under pressure
  • Caring, compassionate and approachable
  • Enthusiastic and motivated

Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment.
