We are looking to recruit a physiotherapist with a passion for treating children in the acute setting to join our small paediatric team here at Leighton Hospital. Candidates should have a minimum of 12 months experience of working at Band 5 level within the NHS and have completed an acute paediatric rotation. You will be expected to support the adult team as required depending on service need, so experience of working with adults in an acute NHS setting is also required. However, the main focus will be to work on the paediatric wards and will include treating a wide range of conditions. For example, cystic fibrosis, orthopaedic trauma and complex needs children. Home visits are also part of this role. It is therefore vital that you have a full UK driving licence and have access to a car for work purposes. Formal clinical educator training is desirable. We welcome applications from colleagues who work within the community paediatric setting who may want to work within both services. Previous shared posts have worked really well in the past and give an element of continuity for the children and their families. The core weekday hours can be discussed at interview. Weekend working is something we are currently considering. It is likely in the future that you will be required to work a rota’d weekend with time back in the week. This again can be discussed at interview.As a clinical specialist provide a high standard comprehensive physiotherapy assessment and treatment service of patients with a wide range of conditions working as an autonomous clinician, using accurate analytical skills and clinical reasoning to interpret assessment findings, making diagnoses where appropriate, identifying patient problems, setting goals, and providing an appropriate treatment plan and progression.Upon completion and maintenance of on call competencies, to work unsupervised in an on-call and out of hour’s emergency serviceThe Physiotherapy Team here at Leighton Hospital are the recipient of many accolades - both within the Trust and regionally.
