37.5 hoursThe Radiotherapy Physics section of the Department of Medical Physics at The James Cook University Hospital has a vacancy for a Clinical Scientist.The successful candidate will possess a good knowledge of the radiotherapy process and will contribute to routine clinical service delivery and the development of new techniques and technologies across all areas of the service.Applicants for this post should be HCPC Registered as a Clinical Scientist or in a position to achieve registration within 12 months. We also welcome applications from individuals able to achieve registration via ACS route 2 within 3 years.The department has six Elekta linacs with Agility MLC (five of these equipped with FFF technology) and a superficial/deep X-ray set. Pre–treatment imaging consists of Siemens and Toshiba wide bore CT scanners with associated ProSoma virtual simulation software. Treatment plans are produced using Monaco and Raystation . We have an active brachytherapy service, treating a variety of sites using our Nucletron microSelectron. The department prides itself on delivering state-of the-art treatment techniques (all radical radiotherapy treatments are IMRT) to our patient population and research and development is actively encouraged.The Medical Physics Department comprises 46 scientific and technical staff.
