  • To contribute to the systematic provision of a high quality specialist clinical psychology service to the infants and children under 5 years and their families as part of Trafford’s Early Attachment Service
  • To carry a caseload of infants, children and their families for the purpose of the assessment and treatment of children presenting with a range of emotional, attachment and behavioural difficulties.
  • To advice parents and other professionals working with infants and children under 5 years about the needs of young people in their care.
  • To supervise and support others in the EAS umbrella service, including as needed any psychology assistants and trainees, in the provision of good quality assessments and treatment.
  • To work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of psychology practice within clinical practice.
  • To utilise research skills for audit and research in agreement with lead psychologists within the service.
  • Delivery of service provision within the parameters of child and adolescent mental health, in a multi-agency context.
  • To provide specialist assessments of children and adolescents referred to the service based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of data from a variety of sources including psychological tests, self-report measures, direct and indirect observation and interviews with clients, family members and/or carers.
  • To formulate and implement plans for therapeutic intervention or management based on an appropriate conceptual framework, working in home, social services, community, hospital and educational settings where appropriate. Communication of this to the referrer and other relevant professionals.
  • To provide psychological training, advice and consultation to staff from health and other agencies in areas relevant to direct clinical work and to clinical service provision.
  • To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment, treatment and discharge of clients whose problems are managed by psychologically based care plans.
  • To manage cases under the supervision of an experienced Child and Adolescent Psychologists and to utilise case management skills.
  • To contribute a specialist psychological perspective to case planning and multi-agency case conferences and reviews and call multi-professional meetings when appropriate.
