The Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Clinical Data Scientist to join our growing clinical data team at CMR. Day to day our data scientists are helping us achieve our mission to transform surgery for good. Life as a clinical data scientist is both challenging and rewarding. To succeed we recruit the very best data scientists to help us solve difficult problems in surgery by applying and advancing cutting-edge techniques.
Responsibilities
We want you to work with Clinical Data, from integrating the data into our pipelines to making the most scientific rigorous analyses and building the most visually appealing interactive dashboards for our internal and external customers.
You will also:
- Apply data science and statistical methods to data collected from the clinical practice to deliver internal and external facing analytics and visualisations
- Build interactive tools, e.g. R Shiny dashboards to monitor the data quality metrics and produce real time insights for our customers
- Take responsibility of ETL pipelines to integrate and validate data from different internal and external data sources
- Work with stakeholders from across CMR to identify clinical data project requirements and evaluate candidate solutions
- Bring scientific and statistical rigour to all elements of work, that may lead to scientific publications, regulatory reports, and company material

About you
As the ideal candidate you’ll be passionate about clinical data engineering. You’ll be rigorous and methodological, a great communicator, able to work individually or in a team, and continue to learn new skills and techniques to advance your career.
Essential requirements
- A degree in statistics, data science, computer science, mathematics, bioengineering, biomedical science or other relevant discipline
- Previous experience in data science using clinical or medical data or experience in a related role
- Proficiency in at least one programming language, ideally Python and/or R and interactive platforms such as RShiny
- Knowledge of modern database technologies including SQL, non-relational databases, and data warehousing/data lake solutions
- Experience working with data in a regulated environment e.g. medical devices, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, finance
- Keen to problem solve and able to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines
- A genuine desire to help and support team members and local teams so that we can all achieve our best
- Team player and ability to collaborate across multiple functions
Desired requirements
- A PhD or masters level degree in a related discipline
- Experience with designing and building "Dashboard" solutions using relevant tools
- Experience with control method analysis and statistical process control
