Band 8a – Senior CBT Therapist or Highly Specialist Clinical/ Counselling Psychologist, Referral Coordinator and Care Pathways Lead

The post holder will join the Talk Wandsworth Senior Management Team, and will take a lead on screening referrals into the service, liaising with other teams within the Trust regarding care and treatment planning for service users. They will also clinically lead a number of specialist clinical pathways within the IAPT service as agreed with Head of Psychology and Psychotherapies for IAPT and Primary Care; for example, the clinical pathways for supporting patients in IAPT with learning disabilities, young people and those of older age. The postholder will be responsible for ensuring clinical support provided within the IAPT team for these harder to reach groups is appropriately adapted to suit the clinical needs of these groups.

South West London & St. George’s Mental Health NHS Trust (SWLSTG) provides mental health services at primary, secondary and tertiary levels to the residents of Sutton, Merton, Kingston, Richmond and Wandsworth.

Talk Wandsworth is the Trust’s primary care mental health service for the residents of Wandsworth. It incorporates an Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) and a Wellbeing Service, and offers evidence-based psychological treatments (e.g., CBT, IPT, DIT) to people with common mental health problems (i.e., depression, anxiety disorders and eating disorders) within a stepped-care model. The service is professionally managed by a Consultant Psychologist and operationally managed by a Clinical Service Manager. The clinical team includes qualified IAPT High Intensity CBT Therapists, Clinical and Counselling Psychologists, and Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners who provide evidence-based psychological interventions in line with NICE guidance.

About the location:

Talk Wandsworth is located in Tooting Broadway, easily accessible by tube and bus and a short walk from the nearest train station. Staff can easily access a range of shops, cafes and restaurants.
