The job:

We are looking for dynamic and experienced salesperson with secondary care (respiratory/paediatrics/immunology) experience and the ability to influence strategically within primary care to facilitate behaviour and pathway changes, whilst promoting our portfolio of diagnostic tests to clinicians.

Our focus is to reach the 5.4 million diagnosed asthma patients who have had no allergic triggers identified by testing. The successful candidate will work in conjunction with the Laboratory Account Manager for the allergy and autoimmune diagnostic market. The split of time between secondary and primary care will depend on the local demand but will equate to roughly 50:50.

This is a field-based role with a sales territory covering North East England (primarily Sheffield, York, Leeds, Hull and Newcastle areas). You will be on the road travelling within your territory 3 to 4 days per week, with 2 overnight stays per month on average (will vary depending on your location in territory). Candidates can be based anywhere within North East England, ideally close to a major motorway.

The Immuno Diagnostics Division (IDD) of Thermo Fisher is market leader in in-vitro testing for allergy and autoimmune diseases. We meet our customer’s need for bespoke assays in allergy and autoimmune disease. The UK, Ireland and Netherlands Company is profitable and growing and is leader in its market segments, with an estimated 95% market share of all IVD allergy tests, and 50% share of all IVD autoimmunity tests.

What will you do?


  • Achieve sales and activity within your defined key accounts
  • Generate new business leads and build impact at a strategic level
  • Work with Key opinion leaders in Secondary care and motivate change in primary care at Primary Care Network (PCN) level

Who we are looking for:

  • Degree in a Life Science
  • Prior sales experience in a life science, clinical, pharmaceutical or medical sales role
  • Key account management experience an advantage
  • Knowledge of paediatric and respiratory departments desirable, along with local PCN and ICS knowledge
  • Success in maintaining and developing positive relationships with customers and key opinion leaders
  • Ability to engage PCN networks with a view to changing pathways to improve patients’ access to allergy and autoimmune diagnostics
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Fluent in English
  • Valid driving licence
