Situated in Zone 5, Sutton is less than 30 minutes by train from central London, and south and south west London are easily accessible by public transport. There are 10 train stations which serve key neighbourhoods within the borough providing direct connections to London Victoria, London Bridge, London Blackfriars and St Pancras International. Sutton also has direct rail connections with Epsom, Dorking, Guildford and Horsham, as well as Wimbledon for an interchange with the London Underground and West Croydon for the London Overground.   • About the Role This role is all about building relationships and working with a range of small and large organisations to support them to identify their environmental impact and commit to taking action to reduce it. The roleholder will develop a detailed business case for the council’s long-term climate ambitions, with a real focus on the benefits for our residents, as well as support our funding and financing plans. For the successful candidate this role can be offered on a part-time or full-time basis. About Us Sutton has a long-standing commitment to reducing our impact on the environment.   • We declared a climate emergency in July 2019 and published our updated Environment Strategy and Climate Emergency Response Plan in October 20
  • We are committed to embedding environmental sustainability across our work and organisation, and working with the community, business and partners to reduce their environmental impact as well. We’re recruiting a 6-month fixed term Climate Emergency Partnerships Manager to kickstart our work with partners, businesses and voluntary organisations in the borough. About You A dynamic self starter, building relationships comes naturally to you. You’ll be highly experienced at working in partnerships with a diverse range of organisations from different sectors. You’ll rapidly build trust and be able to understand shared priorities and translate that into commitment and action. You’ll be skilled at research, understand the concept of co-benefits relating to climate action, and have experience of building business cases that relate to intangible benefits. Preferably you’ll be a sustainability expert with experience of practical application in a local authority or public sector organisation.
