Job content

Second2None School Support is a company in Merseyside but operates across the northwest. We are customer-centric, professional and supportive, and our goal is to deliver a high quality and personable clerking service to school governors.

Our work environment includes:

  • Work-from-home days
  • Flexible working hours
  • On-the-job training
  • Growth opportunities

We offer governance and clerking support for Schools and Academies. An exciting time to work for a growing business which currently supports over 150 schools and academies across the northwest in their drive to improve education for children and young people.

This post is home-based and term time only, ideal especially during the emphasis on home working during the pandemic. Board meetings usually take place in maintained schools and academy Trusts where the Clerk will attend to take minutes, convene the meetings and provide advice to Boards of governors/trustees. *Please note during COVID restrictions, candidates must be able to use Zoom or other online video conferencing facilities*

The post is flexible to suit the needs of the post holder and offers part time hours at present. The post holder will be able to take on as much or as little as they prefer. The fees are on a per meeting basis and are competitive. Meetings take place usually late afternoons, sometimes earlier in the day.

Previous minute taking experience is essential. Ideally evidence of this should be provided. Knowledge/experience of School/Academy governance is highly preferable. Transferable skills are welcomed from other governance and administrative sectors.

Duties include advising the governors/trustees of procedural and legal duties, preparation and circulation of agendas/minutes and other papers, taking and typing up minutes of the governing body meetings and other administrative duties as required.

Candidates must have means of writing minutes (laptop/shorthand etc) and internet access. An educational and/or legal background would be beneficial and candidates will have capacity to learn quickly.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and be highly organised and motivated to keep to deadlines.

The successful candidate will be willing and committed to undertake ongoing training.

The role is sub-contracted.

Candidates submitting cover letters will be given preference.

Opportunities in Cheshire West, Liverpool, Derbyshire, Manchester (including Greater Manchester), Stockport, Bury, South Yorkshire, Pendle, Bury, Clitheroe, Wirral, Staffordshire and Cheshire East.
