Every project has unique and interesting challenges requiring sound engineering judgement, teamwork and project delivery excellence. Many of our projects are world first decommissioning challenges and attract interest from the wider decommissioning community. Some examples include - the decommissioning of the world s first high temperature helium cooled reactor using laser cutting and remote operations at Winfrith; the removal of 8 1000Te heat exchangers from the primary circuit at Dungeness and subsequent smelting; the isolation, asbestos removal & demolition of the Sizewell A turbine Hall; the removal of the graphite core at Trawsfynydd, which will be the largest ever reactor core decommissioning activity worldwide.We have an exciting multi-year project at Berkeley Site, which requires proactive project engineering resource to manage the engineering process, working closely with the supply chain and fellow engineers within Magnox.Project Engineers will work closely with the project’s contractors to resolve some complex issues, to ultimately empty and demolish the four buildings that were once the reactor blower houses.Ideally applicants will have experience of delivering in a highly regulated sector as the nuclear industry has specific regulations, however, there will be training and support for applicants to assist in understanding these requirements. At its core, decommissioning is about delivering good technical solutions to complex multi-dimensional projects through sound engineering judgement and proactive teamworking."Please note the contractual working hours are Monday - Thursday, 07.25 - 17.00. Perfect for someone looking for a four day working week.Key DeliverablesManage design activities in accordance with design authority standards (client-perspective).Provide technical supervision of construction/deconstruction activities to ensure compliance with design intent.Act as a Nominated Responsible Engineer, securing approval to implement work and managing design changes.Demonstrate a working knowledge of the CDM Regulations on designers which impact on safety, temporary works the environment and future safe engineering solutions.Maintain site configuration control of appropriate documentation & drawings throughout project lifecycle.Comply with all Environment, Health, Safety, Security and Quality policies, procedures, work instructions and risk assessments and support the continuous improvement of Health, Safety, Environment and Quality on Site.Qualifications and ExperienceHNC/HND/Degree qualified Engineer with demonstrable experience on industrial plant in a regulated industry (Essential).A demonstrable understanding national engineering standards (Essential).Working knowledge of CDM Designer role (Desirable).Contract management experience.Please note that this role is known as Project Engineer internally.Benefits PackageFlexible working - where possible.Equivalent of 25 days (185 hours) annual leave plus Public Holidays (59.2 hours per year) - option to buy or sell up to one week each year.Participation in Company Bonus Scheme (up to £4,500 per annum based on corporate objectives).Up to 13.5% employer pension contribution depending on individual contribution amount.Access to training and development through the company performance management arrangements, supporting you in maintaining your personal Continuous Professional Development.Additional InformationPlease be aware this role holder requires security clearance, or the ability to obtain said clearance.There is a requirement to live within a commutable distance to the sites where the role is based.
