Madiba has recently secured a rural farm location and is looking for Team leaders to enhance our team and be part of driving the the Madiba principles and ethos moving forward. The aim is to develop the site into a nurturing and therapeutic space for young people to thrive.
This post represents the standards, authority, responsibility and accountability of a Team Leader. As part of Madiba’s investment in staff development, applicants and/ or candidates are appointed to this position because they have demonstrated capability to work at this level and potentially higher.
As Team Leader, the post holder will assist the Deputy Manager and/or Registered Manager in the management of the home by leading the work of a shift, including a team of staff and the programme of activities for one or more young people.
The role of Team Leader is an important one within Madiba and as such post holders will be given lead responsibility for specific management tasks as part of his/her continuing professional development. The Team Leader will have delegated authority for the tasks that he/she has been assigned, but the Deputy and/or Registered Manager will retain the full authority and accountability for the work of the Team Leader.
The Core principles of Team leader
Assist the Deputy Manager and/ or General Manager in providing an emotionally secure, consistent, warm, supportive and caring environment for the young people, and to encourage their social, physical, emotional, intellectual and moral development so that they may realise their own potential. Furthermore, to work to high professional standards of care, control and supervision. Team leaders will also need to be solution focus based, as well as professional, committed, ambitious and a good role model for support workers.
The role will involve working with Young People who present challenging behaviour for which we use a positive behaviour support to help manage and reduced behaviours that challenge.
The role would be ideally suited for an experienced support worker looking for there next career step or someone with staff management experience that’s looking for a move into a quality service with excellent prospects.
The job will also require participation in activities but it is also important that staff create a nurturing and homely environment.
Please Note the role requires staff to work on a rota that consists of days, evenings, weekends and bank holidays as well as Sleep in duties (which are paid at £45 per sleep in).
Attendance and Ofsted bonus.
Level 3/4 Diploma in Children’s Residential Care would be advantageous
A good level of IT and admin skills is essential.
