Salary: Up to £75,000 depending on experience

Location: Portland, Dorset

Full Time, Monday to Friday but as most competitive sailing events take place at the weekend, there will be some weekend working too

Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy (WPNSA) is a world class sailing venue based on the south coast. WPNSA works to promote the sport of sailing at all levels of competence and ability, both in the local community and globally. Home of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Sailing event as part of London 2021, WPNSA thrives on hosting high profile regattas on some of the most reputable sailing waters in the world. Off the water, WPNSA boasts excellent conference and event facilities, all with the stunning backdrop of the Jurassic Coast.

We are currently looking to recruit a ‘hands on’ CEO, this is an exciting, high-profile opportunity to work with the Board to help lead and drive the organisation into the next phase and shape the strategic direction of the WPNSA.

You will be a highly motivated individual with excellent leadership skills gained in complex multi activity environments. With a passion for promoting the sport of sailing with a commitment to inclusion, you will have some experience of competitive sailing in small boats along with an understanding of equal opportunities good practice to include Equality, Diversity & Inclusivity (EDI) and current legislation.

As the CEO, the responsibilities will include:

  • Continuing the successful legacy of hosting world class events which are critical to the sport and the local community
  • Lead the WPNSA, acting as a role model for colleagues, inspiring the teams through a period of change to capitalise on new opportunities
  • Embracing inclusion in the sport with a focus on regeneration in Portland and the wider area of South Dorset
  • Ensuring the effective and efficient administration of all company, legal, environmental, facilities and financial affairs of WPNSA
  • Developing positive relationships with external organisations and stakeholders
  • Delivering high-quality, cost-effective services and facilities
  • Ensuring top quality support is provided to elite athletes training or competing at WPNSA by maintaining regular and constructive engagement with the RYA, UK Sport, English Institute of Sport and Sport England.
