We are a dynamic rapidly expanding company based in Ringwood. Due to our ongoing success, we have created the role of Chartered Surveyor to provide leadership and support to our team of surveyors ensuring commercial targets are met. You will also be integral in supporting the business, team and colleagues to achieve maximum potential.

We are looking for an experienced and suitably qualified MRICS surveyor who has a successful track record leading a team in a fast-paced work environment. You will also be an inspired leader, highly organised, always looking to exceed expectations with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Main Duties and responsibilities

Team leader

  • Lead the Surveying team, supporting the business, team, and colleagues to achieve maximum potential.
  • Manage the team effectively with adherence to commercial performance and resource management via productivity and time methods.
  • Chair the surveyor meeting, prepare the agenda, and sign off on the minutes.
  • Support the Directors, linking effectively and proactively with other teams within the business, particularly the Operations Manager role.
  • Report information regularly to the Board and take the lead on working with Marketing and Operations to implement changes and amendments to reports, terms and conditions and processes as well as campaign strategy.
  • Work proactively and flexibly to support delivery across the service with commercial and solution focus.
  • Be aware of Project Management/APC requirements for the team to help them keep a balanced workload.
  • Take ownership for the teams’ professional development.

Customer service

  • Provide an efficient and business-like point of contact. This includes responding to internal and external enquiries and (via face to face, telephone, email, and virtual meeting platforms e.g., Microsoft Teams).
  • To liaise with and give advice to clients.
  • Deliver a consistent and professional level of customer service at all times to Clients, and other practices within the industry.
  • Provide an initial point of escalation for issues both internally and externally to support the team, the business, and the Clients.

Business strategy

  • Lead the Surveying team strategy for the business.
  • Develop and deliver a team business plan linked to the business strategic business plan.
  • Cultivate new business clients and retain existing clients.

Business delivery

  • Be the expert for Building Surveying matters relating to specialist areas ensuring all statutory, regulatory, and contractual responsibilities are met.
  • Maintain technical competence with a high standard of experience and knowledge around a number of Surveying specialisms.
  • Undertake, as one of the team, a full range of Project Management & Surveying duties and responsibilities as required.
  • Lead and manage the improvement of standard systems and procedures within the Surveying team.
  • Develop and deliver new processes for the team.
  • Lead conversations with clients on Surveying matters.
  • Maintain a high-level knowledge of legislation, policies, good practice, and guidance.
  • Ensure projects are completed on budget and to programme.
  • Prepare scheme designs with costings, programmes for completion and projects and specification of works with a focus on high-quality output.
  • React and resolve issues which arise during pre-design, design, construction, and post-construction stages of a project.
  • Advise on the Health and Safety aspects of buildings.

It is essential you have:

  • Degree in Building Surveying & MRICS status.
  • Experience in professional aspects of building surveying competencies including dilapidations and party wall matters.
  • Substantial experience in the profession, preferably in a consultancy practice or for a large contractor.
  • Considerable team management experience and be able set individual and team targets.
