The Client

Our client is a multi-discipline property and construction expert, who offer professional advice and services through all stages of a project with strong experience across all sectors including structural and Civil Engineering, Building Surveying, Land Surveying, Transport and Highway Engineering.

The Role

The Building Surveying department within Glanville Consultants was established in 1997 and over the last 25 years has been responsible for the design and management of a wide range of construction projects for a number of large commercial clients.

Due to the planned retirement of the existing Director in 2022, there is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and professional Chartered Building Surveyor to join Glanville Consultants with the capability to take on the management of an existing department and the ambition to develop both the existing client base and the take advantage of the opportunities that are available from working within a multi-disciplinary organisation with Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Traffic and Highways and Geomatics departments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertaking the role of Principal Designer on a range of projects (mainly commercial)
  • Management and co-ordination of the architectural, structural and civil engineering designs on a wide range of new-build and refurbishment projects
  • Financial, technical and project management input throughout the design and construction stages of project.
  • Financial and technical management of the Building Surveying team
  • Supervision of Building Surveying staff including workload, management of training, welfare etc.
  • Preliminary Design
  • Preparation of outline briefs involving visits to sites throughout the UK, review of planning histories, site investigation reports, services records
  • Attendance at design and stakeholder meetings
  • Condition surveys of existing buildings
  • Preparation of preliminary concept designs and outline specifications
Experience And Qualifications Required
  • Minimum qualification - Chartered Building Surveyor MRICS
  • At least 10 years post-qualification experience in Building Surveying and project management
  • Good working knowledge of all aspects of building surveying and building design
  • Proven staff management skills
  • Proven client management including negotiating and influencing skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to manage staff, lead and motivate individuals and teams to achieve targets
