Under direction, assist in the preparation of meals, snacks and drinks for people.

To maintain a clean, tidy and healthy working environment.

Main Responsibilities
  • Assisting the catering team in preparing meals as per the menus.
  • Maintain clean and hygienic work areas that comply with health and safety and environmental safety standards.
  • Report faulty equipment to manager or relevant professional and action plan accordingly e.g. remove from use.
  • Ensure safe use and storage of equipment in line with health and safety policies. This includes fixed equipment and tools e.g. sharp knives.
  • Prepare snack meals e.g. light meals/tea, sandwiches, toast.
  • Prepare and maintain the café area as necessary.
  • Receive and account for cash and other transactions.
  • Undertake administrative tasks and recording in relation to COSHH assessments, stock taking, and food temperatures in line with Food Handling regulations.
  • Rotate freezer stock and dried goods.
  • Contribute to the success of the café by maximising income and minimising expenditure.
