Introduction

The words ‘catering assistant’ and ‘social life’ don’t often go together. Well, not this time. With this job you will not work evenings, you will work either part-time or full-time hours and will not be under heavy pressure and stress.

Working 16 hours a week, you will be joining an established kitchen team at Braeburn House. Reporting to the Head Chef, you will support the chefs to prepare meals, maintain a clean and safe working environment, and assist with deliveries.

It’s a calm and pleasurable working environment, where you’ll be able to manage your workload and develop your career. There’s a great social aspect to this role where you can interact with people outside the kitchen regularly.

*please note that this role includes weekend working

Your responsibilities will include:

  • To ensure that all areas / equipment within the catering department are cleaned using appropriate chemicals and following manufacturer’s instructions.
  • To be able to work on own on weekends as required, preparing brunch and Sunday lunch
  • To be responsible for the cleaning and maintaining of the dining areas and equipment / furniture.
  • To ensure that all catering waste is disposed of following the correct procedures.
  • To ensure areas around the outside perimeter of the department are kept clean and tidy.
  • To ensure that all pots, crockery, etc. are cleaned, and stored appropriately.

To be successful in this role, you’ll need

  • Knowledge of COSHH and HACCP
  • Experience of working within similar role
  • NVQ2 Food Safety / Food Hygiene
  • Literacy evidence
  • Numeracy
  • General standard of education (Essential)
  • Able to communicate with patients, visitors and staff.
