To clean and maintain high standards of cleanliness in guest rooms, public areas, offices and function spaces on a day-to-day basis. Support or directly responsible for the care, inventory and transport of linen as may be required.

The following are specific responsibilities and contributions critical to the successful performance of the position:
  • Ensure all public areas correspond with lists given, reporting any discrepancies immediately to line supervisor or manager.
  • Collect any laundry and take to the appropriate room.
  • Assist in the delivery of linen to the linen room or relevant guest room as required.
  • Moving of linen around the hotel.
  • Analyzes all discards of stained and torn linen. Determines items that can be salvaged. Maintains records of discarded linen.
  • Identifies reject linen and stores this separately to return to the linen room.
  • Completes one room at a time to the highest standard and in accordance with the room specification.
  • Understand the cleaning schedule and to ensure the correct solvents/cleaning products are used at all times
  • Clean bathrooms to include basins, baths, toilets, mirrors, tiles and floors, etc.
  • Put clean towels in bathroom, folded correctly.
  • Clean service room, daily.
  • Carry out the ‘Job of the day’ to the highest standard.
  • Hand immediately any lost property to the Housekeeping Manager or department lead, noting time, place and date.
  • Completes any mistakes given by the Housekeeper, handing back in at the end of the shift.
  • Operates all department equipment as necessary and reports malfunctions.
