Summary

We currently have the opportunity for two full time Casework Support Officers to join our Refugee Resettlement and Migration Service on a fixed-term contract for 12 months (with potential for extension).

LIVE∙WORK∙INNOVATE

In 2014, UK Government launched the Syrian Vulnerable Persons Resettlement Scheme (VPRS) which prioritised help for survivors of torture and violence, women and children at risk, and those in need of medical care. Wiltshire Council has been part of the VPRS programme for the past five years and due to the success of this programme, the scheme has been extended to a UK resettlement scheme (UKRS) based on similar principles.

The Government works with UNCHR to identify suitable cases and with Wiltshire Council and our partners to ensure the specific needs of these vulnerable individuals are met. Specialist knowledge and skills are used to work with the individuals, their family, community and services to promote independence and achieve a positive outcome for them during their time in the UK.

About The Role

The Refugee Resettlement and Migration Service is a new service designed to support a range of relocation programmes, including UKRS.

Wiltshire is committed to excellent partnership working and delivering results for customers; supporting the delivery of this work therefore means evidence of strong team working skills and flexibility is essential.

Length of time and scope of support for families and individuals is based upon which relocation scheme they are relocated under.

About You

As a Casework Support Officer, you will have a good understanding of a range of public sector services and the experience of new arrivals in the UK.

We will look to you to have knowledge and respect for different cultures. You should also have experience of working to specific policies and procedures.

Working with families and individuals, you will support them in accessing public services and develop appropriate support plans that meet their needs and support their integration into the British way of life.

An understanding of the various resettlement schemes would be beneficial.

A full UK driving licence is essential for this role.

Unless otherwise indicated, all interviews are held virtually on Microsoft Teams or by phone where this is not possible.
