A popular and inspiring café and deli in the thriving market town of Thame, is pleased to offer a fantastic opportunity for an experienced, resourceful, and committed Café Manager, who is passionate about speciality coffee and has a natural flair for hospitality.

As Café Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that the front of house runs smoothly, professionally, and efficiently, seamlessly integrating service between the café, deli and take-away.

This is a hands-on role as much as a management role. The successful candidate will need to have strong barista and waiting skills, as well as a proven talent for staff supervision, training, and leadership.

Key responsibilities

  • Leading by example, with a hands-on approach and a ’can do’ attitude.
  • Ensuring smooth, professional, and efficient front of house management.
  • Creating the ultimate cafe experience, with attentive service and warm hospitality.
  • Taking orders, serving to table, and processing transactions.
  • Extracting and crafting outstanding coffee to consistently high standards.
  • Maximising and initiating opportunities for sales and growth.
  • Developing and driving standards, systems, and procedures.
  • Staff management, training, and development.
  • Hygiene, health and safety compliance, and general housekeeping.
Candidate specification

  • Hands-on experience in a similar role.
  • Generosity of spirit and quality driven, with a natural flair for hospitality.
  • Strong organisational skills and uncompromising attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated, with a pro-active stance towards problem solving.
  • A team player and a team leader, with a positive and professional attitude.
  • Able to deliver competent service in a calm and efficient manner.
  • Commercially-minded, with a strong work ethic.
  • Sound working knowledge of food hygiene, health, and safety procedures.
  • Available to work 5 days out of 7, including weekends.
