We are actively looking for a Buyer or Materials Source Lead or someone with Purchasing experience for a well established Engineering company in Workington.

Our client operate from one of the largest workshops in the UK giving them the capability to offer some of the biggest steel and fabrication projects in the UK. They offer turnkey solutions including multidiscipline engineering design, manufacture, testing, installation and commissioning.

The purpose of this role is to source all goods/services for Projects working with requirements from a Bill of Material in accordance with Business Processes and Procedures, and to best possible Commercial Terms.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have
  • Experience in a buyer, purchasing or material source role, preferably in Engineering
  • CIPS qualified - desirable or willing to work towards
  • A good commercial and contract knowledge including the ability to flow down terms and conditions from customers.
  • Ability to Chair meetings with Suppliers, arranging meetings and follow up actions
  • Good organisation skills, good attention to detail when reviewing and analysing material requirements and costs
  • Ability to meet deadlines and completing priorities set out by Projects to ensure Production Schedules can be met
  • Ability to adapt to using new systems and processes to meet business needs
  • Good communication skills
This is a full time role for 36.5 hours per week.

Salary is dependant on experience and will be discussed at Interview - all levels considered.
