The role

We are looking for a Business Project Manager to successfully deliver multiple key business focussed projects for an interim period. The role will have specific responsibility for delivering initial policy ideas from the SRA’s strategic review of its approach to fees and charging through to implementation.

The Business Project Manager will manage the full project lifecycle, setting up the team, budgeting, determining project approach and managing deliverables. As a Business Project Manager, you will adhere to processes and manage governance and risk effectively, closely controlling projects, so they are delivered successfully within budget and time restraints.

Developing good business relationships is key for this role. Using your relationship management skills, you will liaise with project sponsors to agree project deliverables, timings, and expected benefits. You will build and develop project teams and be comfortable managing conflicts and performance. You will establish collaborative working relationships with stakeholders and colleagues at all levels to align the elements of the project.

You will be a confident communicator, who can clearly articulate business requirements, business process, delivery plans and manage risk with staff at all levels across the organisation. At all times explaining information in a way that is appropriate to the audience. Being a competent negotiator with the ability to influence others, will also be beneficial.

You will produce clear and concise project documentation for example Project Initiation Documents, Quality Plans and weekly Status Reports. And be committed to continuous improvement and implementing lessons learned.

What we are looking for:

  • Experience of matrix managing staff and project teams within a performance management environment.
  • Experience of working in both an ICT delivery and a business process environment.
  • Prince2 Practitioner qualification or equivalent experience in a Prince2 environment
  • Ability to lead and manage multiple projects and stakeholders with adherence to, and competing deadlines and priorities
  • Proficient Microsoft Office skills including Visio and Project / Project Online
  • Experience of creating and managing project plans and escalating deviations when needed
  • A team-orientated individual who can provide clear direction to groups or individuals to achieve the project objectives
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills - to manage own time, work effectively with minimum supervision and plan the work of the project team
  • Ability to influence, negotiate and create buy-in at all levels

Useful information

  • Salary outside London - £43,000 - £55,000 Birmingham depending on experience
