Job Title: Business Development Manager (BDM)

Reports to: Head of Business Development

Location: Head Office, Euxton, Chorley / Hybrid working

Job Purpose: Develop and grow business by increasing market share retention whilst developing business opportunities

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Type: Full-time

Mon-Thursday – 8am-5pm

Friday – 8.30am-3pm

Established in 2007, SR Supply Chain Consultants are a fast-growing training company based in Lancashire who are a Procurement and Supply Centre of Excellence that off professional qualifications and Apprenticeships. We work all industries and sectors and have a wide customer base including many blue-chip companies.

We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic individual to join our Business Development Team; reporting to the Head of Business Development this individual will develop and manage the business growth through bid management and a winning sales strategy.

As a BDM, you will be responsible for:

  • Working alongside all key stakeholders to successfully secure new business and retain existing contracts through re tenders and renewals
  • Independently source relevant tender opportunities including monitoring “Find a Tender Service” (FTS) regulated portals
  • Responsible for generating and presenting all Bid / No Bid overviews for review by the Senior Leadership Team
  • Complete all Approved Supplier Questionnaires (ASQs) and Pre-Qualification Questionnaires (PQQs) as required.
  • Lead the completion all Invitation to Tender (ITT) and Request for Proposal (RFPs) as required, through the creation and coordination of the Business Development Team.
  • Write work-winning quality and technical written responses.
  • Apply Company Pricing Policies or create bespoke pricing matrices as required for bid responses
  • Coordinate input from other teams in order to complete the bid, e.g., Finance, Apprenticeship Management, Operations, Admin, Customer Success and Learner Engagement
  • Responsible for the final preparation and delivery of bids to strict deadlines through print, email, or portal submission.
  • Attend site visits, lead on external interviews and presentations as required
  • Gather debrief information on bid performance post-contract award / loss and analyse with team members and management to find ways to improve bids in future and discover potential opportunities.
  • Pre-Contract Briefing to Management team and sales handover to internal departments.
  • Identify key messages and differentiators for proposals, to inform and implement lessons learned, including maintaining and continuously developing a ‘Bid Library’ of key information and knowledge to assist future bids.
  • Disseminate bid best practice on an industry and regional level to the Company.
  • Regularly provide detailed reporting on activity to your line manager.
  • Support in the continuous development of the Business Development, generating more efficient ways of working and increasing the success rate of the Department.
  • Perform all the above responsibilities accurately, within prescribed timescales and deadlines.
  • Deal with any ad hoc projects or duties the Line Manager considers reasonable
  • Manage recruitment of customers and learners through to onboarding ensuring that consideration is given to eligibility, safeguarding, prevent and equality and diversity.
  • Ensure the engagement and recruitment policy and process is inline with regulations such as ESFA and Ofsted.
  • Attend Management meetings and report on business improvements.

The skills and experience required for this role:

  • Educated to relevant Degree Level
  • Intermediate level MS Office including Excel, Word
  • Bid Writing in accordance with role requirements
  • Working in a similar business development role
  • Engagement with Stakeholders
  • MS Windows 365 including Word and Excel
  • Working to tight deadlines and under pressure
  • A good understanding and awareness of commercial business
  • Hold a knowledge base of tenders, sales and marketing
  • Understanding of the value of diversity
