About Our Client

The ambitious start-up we are working with have developed a flat-packed, 100% recycled plastic, building block. The blocks are easy to assemble and disassemble at speed with a simple ’lego’ style interlocking method with no need for additional or specialist materials or tools required. The product is faster, cheaper and more sustainable than traditional building materials and its flexibility lends itself to a variety of markets including light construction, DIY, humanitarian relief, defence and agriculture.

Job Description

The Business Development Manager is essentially the Head of Sales. Working closely with the CEO, and being the 2nd most senior person within the organisation, you will play a major part in this start-up’s future.

First and foremost your main task is to take the organisation’s incredibly exciting product to market and sell. You will have a multitude of organisations to target across a variety of sectors. However, you will also be responsible for creating the sales strategy, driving continuous improvement and growing turnover year on year.

This will be achieved by selling directly to end users. However, there will also be a focus on forming world class relationships with partner organisations that can open doors for the business through their existing networks. Therefore, finding collaborating partners and agreeing suitable and commercially viable terms with said businesses will also be pivotal in taking the business forward.

This is a start up, so the main focus initially is going to be on winning new business. This will be a hands on role where you will need to get involved in a wide array of activities for the greater good of the business. A hands on approach will certainly be required with a view to growing the team as revenue allows.

The Successful Applicant

As follows;
  • A track record of B2B sales
  • Technical knowledge of the construction / engineering space is preferable
  • An entrepreneurial mindset and experience of working in a start-up / SME environment.
  • Identify strong potential leads, set up meetings and convert to sales.
  • Experience of facilitating or leading on deals.
  • Build the value proposition to sell the Company’s product.
  • You will have been in sales role for at least five years and have performed to or above target.
  • Have had experience selling a physical product in a relevant space.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced B2B environment.
  • Ambitious and hungry to learn more and progress your career.
  • Self-motivated and have the aptitude to learn and work independently.
  • Able to work as part of a fast-growing dynamic team.
What’s on Offer

Base - £35,000-£40,000

Car Allowance - £3,500 per annum
