JOB PURPOSE AND SCOPE

As a Business Consultant you will work with businesses to support them with achieving their growth ambitions. This may be by working with them on a consultancy basis to develop strategic growth and operational plans, as an adviser supporting them with the day to day running of their business or assisting them to secure commercial funding. A “can do” attitude as well as the ability to “roll up your sleeves” and “do the doing” when needed is a must.

A key part of the role will be business development to secure new client relationships and developing long-term associations within the wider business community as a trusted adviser. We are keen to hear from people with experience of either working with SMEs to support them to achieve their growth ambitions or an understanding of running a business or department as well as team leadership. A portfolio of established relationships with SMEs would also be advantageous.

ROLE OBJECTIVES

Finance:

  • Develop and deliver a business plan which builds a portfolio of SME partner, consultancy and commercial lending clients.
  • Work with the Company Director to identify and leverage key areas for growth.
  • Undertake financial analysis of businesses to support them with achieving financial growth.

Customer:

  • Provide strategic growth and operational consultancy to SMEs.
  • Work as a trusted business adviser supporting a portfolio of SMEs in the day to day running of their business.
  • Create and nurture professional, long term relationships with new and existing clients and stakeholders.
  • Develop and host events/seminars to support the wider business community.

Building the Business:

  • Achieve new business target.
  • Lead and deliver an internal project to support OPS-BOX achieving its own business plan. Support with the development and implementation of processes, and tools to drive internal efficiencies and consistency in OPS-BOX’s way of working.

People:

  • Work collaboratively with partners, colleagues, introducers, and advocates.
  • A commitment to personal and professional development, identifying any gaps in skills, knowledge and expertise and helping plan appropriate training.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

KNOWLEDGE:

Essential:

BA (Hons) Business, management consultancy or equivalent (industry experience).

Strategic business growth plan development

Development of operating models to support strategic growth plans being achieved. Commercial Lending.

Policy & process development.

Understanding Business Accounts.

SME Industry knowledge.

Desirable:

Balanced Scorecard development.

CRM System and process automation to drive business efficiency.

Change Management qualification.

EXPERIENCE:

Essential:

At least 5 years’ experience of working with SMEs.

Minimum 3 years’ experience of running a business or department.

Development of commercial lending proposals.

Development of SMART KPIs.

Desirable:

Implementation of tools & technology.

Change management.

Experience of working for an SME/start up business.

SKILLS:

Essential:

  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal & written communication, including report writing and presenting material to a range of audiences.
  • Strong and consistent focus on delivery, seeking innovative ways to generate business growth.
  • Results orientated, with demonstrable evidence of determination, drive, and resilience.
  • Self-motivated and able to see tasks through to a successful conclusion, including meeting challenging deadlines where necessary.
  • Overall high level proficiency in Microsoft office suite (Teams, PowerPoint, Word, Excel).

Desirable:

  • Experienced with using Power BI for data automation & reporting.

PACKAGE

  • Salary range £40 - £45k pro rata depending on experience
  • Annual discretionary bonus (up to 15%) related to company & individual performance
  • 30 days annual leave
  • 5% pension contribution
  • Flexible working arrangement (hours & office/home).
