The Old Vicarage School is a thriving independent preparatory school for up to 240 girls aged 3-11. The school is situated in a quiet residential area of Richmond and occupies a beautiful Grade 2* listed building on Richmond Hill.

The Governors and Head are seeking to appoint a highly-motivated and dynamic individual with a strong financial and commercial background to join the Senior Management Team as the next Bursar. This is a key role in this highly regarded independent school with responsibility for the effective leadership and management of the day-to-day non-educational operations of the school, including finance, property and facilities, procurement and risk management. The Bursar also fulfils the role of Clerk to the Governors. The school is financially secure and is in the fortunate position of having waiting lists in most year groups.

Reporting to the Head, the successful applicant will have a proven track record of effective senior leadership and the control and management of projects. Candidates for the post will require excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be commercially astute, and will possess exceptional financial acumen. Working closely with the Head and the Governors, the Bursar will have the opportunity to make a significant contribution to the strategic direction of the school.

Candidates will have a genuine interest in and empathy for education, but prior school bursar experience is not a pre-requisite.

The salary will be dependent on the experience of the successful candidate but will be highly competitive and commensurate with the importance of the post within the school.
