We are currently seeking an experienced Freelance Building Surveyor (CABE/ RICS/ CIOB) to join our growing practice.

Who we are:

SJM Surveyors are a family-run, independent practice of Chartered Building Engineers, Building Surveyors and Registered Valuers. Established in Oswestry, Shropshire, in 2002, we provide both residential and commercial services, including Level 2 Home Surveys, Level 3 Building Surveys, Independent Valuations, Dilapidations and Expert Witness services.

Who we are looking for:

The candidate will be required to undertake both Level 2 & 3 Residential Home Surveys and Independent Valuations. You will be expected to undertake surveys within a 30-mile radius of Oswestry although this is subject to change depending on demand.

If you have 3+ years of relevant experience, a keen eye for detail, and a genuine interest in providing clients with quality written reports, we’d like to hear from you!

The Role:

  • You will be working on a self-employed basis as a consultant for and on behalf of SJM Surveyors.
  • You will primarily carry out RICS Home Surveys - Levels 2 and 3 (valuations optional - not for lending purposes).
  • You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to liaise with our surveyors.
  • You will provide a highly personal and professional service, offering our customers the best possible advice and service at all times.
  • You will write high-quality, detailed reports for our clients (using Microsoft Word).
  • You will provide thorough verbal feedback to clients, following survey inspections.

Requirements:

  • Experienced surveyor with a minimum 3-years post qualification.
  • Must hold own Professional Indemnity Insurance.
  • Member of either CABE/ RICS/ CIOB.
  • Full, clean UK driving license.
  • Must have excellent communication skills and be able to work as part of a close-knit team.
  • An individual who is keen to continually develop their skills and come up with new and exciting ideas.
  • A dynamic and self-motivated individual with a keen eye for detail, able to conduct quality. inspections and reporting.
  • Up-to-date and competent IT skills (minimum Word/Excel).

Hours of work:

To suit your own schedule. You will be expected to keep us up to date with your availability and complete surveys to our timescales.
