Building Services Compliance Technician
Salary: £25,702.00- £27,938.0 perannum(dependent on skills and experience)
Plus an additional recruitment and retention allowance of £2000 per annum
Contract Type: Permanent

Due to our continued growth, the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) Estates team are seeking to recruit two “hands on” Building Services Compliance Technician’sto operate in our prestigious and state of the art premises in Harwell near Didcot.
About the role
Primarily the successful candidate will carry out planned and reactive statutory maintenance duties, to maintain and improve mechanical systems and services. Including the installation of new/replacement mechanical and electrical services and systems across the estate whilst ensuring the work meets current legislation and regulations to align with STFC’s SHE codes.
You will also have the ability to
- Carry out Legionella control based planned maintenance activities (temperature readings, flushing, sampling etc.)
- Assist in water quality auditing of potable and closed heating/cooling systems
- Carry out planned routine maintenance of unvented hot water cylinders and Fire Alarm Isolations
- Safe systems of work (permits/isolation procedures/hot works/ testing and re-commissioning)
- Ensure that works are completed to a high standard and in a timely fashion, to reduce their impact upon scientific programmes.
- Mentoring and development of team members (including the support of apprentices and trainees formal programmes of learning).
About you
You will have successfully completed a time-served trade apprenticeship and be qualified to NVQ level 2/3 or equivalent or have proven experience in a similar role.
- Experience in maintenance of mechanical and electrical services
- Confirmed experience on the building services industry
- Knowledge and understanding of Health and safety legislation
- Confidence in dealing with suppliers and service users
