Kier Utilities keep our telecoms clients’ customers connected to superfast broadband, digital TV and the latest full-fibre gigabit internet services through the design and construction of new fibre networks as well as the maintenance of existing HFC networks.


Recently appointed as Openreach’s core partner, this exciting contract will see us providing multi-million pound planned and reactive fibre and copper network services across Hampshire and Berkshire over the next five-years.

About role

The main purpose of the role is to deliver classroom-based training and field-based accreditation to ensure that all delivery undertaken by Kier is safety and quality compliant in terms of BT contractual requirements, and consistent with current legislation and industry standards. As a trainer/ assessor in a growing contract, this will include upskilling on trainees and apprentices as well as subcontractor resources.

Key Responsibilities:

As a skilled assessor you must be able to demonstrate you can attain and maintain the required level of knowledge and skills to carry out the role effectively and efficiently. You will be required to keep fully informed and up to date with any changes or additions to technology, testers, components, practices & related quality standards as per Openreach client requirements, carrying out the Training/Coaching of direct labour and subcontractor operatives in the correct methods of work to enable them to gain the required accreditations and to deliver classroom and field assessments for initial accreditation and refreshers. You will also demonstrate Kier values alongside the knowledge, skills and behaviour required of your role.


Skills and experience required:

Essential

To be successful in this role you must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to communicate effectively at all business levels. You will have the ability to complete and return all documentation in a timely manner and keep fully informed and up to date with any changes or additions to technology, testers, components, practices & related quality standards as per Openreach client requirements. You will have previous training and coaching skills both in the field and within the classroom setting. You will be a good team player with ability to communicate at all levels and be highly organised.


Desirable


It would be great if you hold Lead Assessor status for telecoms network accreditations, ideally for Fibre job roles and Poling (e.g. K and N Modules for Fibre. O Modules, E1, K3, K7 for poling and overhead cabling), as well as S11/ S13/ S18 Accreditations or Lead Assessor status for Surveying. Ideally you will also hold Accreditations or Lead Assessor status for Civils, and have experience in training and/or assessing within Telecommunications industry, specifically on Openreach network.
