Barnes Roffe have an exciting opportunity for a Sales and Purchase Ledger Assistant to join one of their clients’ in Barking, Essex.

What is the role?

As a Sales and Purchase Ledger Assistant you will be responsible for the following: -

· Answering the telephone and being able to type jobs straight onto the system.

· Calling the customers or suppliers with queries and able to resolve.

· Chasing payments and keeping the ledger up to date

· Prepare banking

· Invoicing, self-billing and allocation of payments

· Reconciliations for month end and vat

· Involvement with Solicitors and credit checking company including relevant forms to be completed, if necessary

· Preparing reports for payments with remittances and setting up the banking ready for payment once authorised by MD.

· Checking of invoices received for correct prices and amounts, able to source who is required to authorise or to chase colleagues for invoice queries to be able to pay disputed invoices.

· Reconciling of statements and liaising with suppliers for invoices/credits/queries

· There will be some amount of Health and Safety administration (which is shared among the staff) which is then passed on to our Health and Safety Consultant.

· General day to day help in the office, stationery/filing/office tidy up etc

If you’re the ideal candidate? You’ll need to have:

  • High level IT skills, particularly MS Excel and Word
  • Possess strong inter-personal and communication skills
  • The ability to work quickly with a high degree of accuracy
  • Be self-directed and able to complete tasks with limited supervision
  • The ability to think outside the box and help direct the business forward
  • Work closely with the computer software provider to improve system to the benefit of the business

Due to the location of this position you will need to drive and have your own transport. Parking is available.
