Vacancy - Booking Office Administrator

An opportunity has arisen for a Booking Office Administrator to join the team at Tetbury Hospital on a part-time basis 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 1pm to 5pm.

The Opportunity

Do you like working on computers, are you confident on the telephone talking to members of the public? Do you work in a logical manner, would you be able to talk to doctors and nurses to ensure the Hospital has enough outpatient clinics and theatre lists running to manage the number of patients who wish to come to the Trust for their consultation and treatment? If so, then this is the job for you.

If successful you will provide a call centre function to support patients in booking their healthcare appointments. You will support the administrative functions within the booking office and, when appropriate, the wider organisation. Providing managers with information regarding booking trends and escalating when additional capacity is required or when an outpatient clinic is not being utilised efficiently. To monitor and maintain waiting lists, ensuring adherence to the NHS Charter and local and National access standards (e.g. 18 weeks referral to treatment, operation rebooked within 28days for non-clinical cancellations)

You will remain professional and sensitive to customer needs at all times, you will be a strong and effective communicator, with the ability to work efficiently in busy environment.

To be successful in this role you will have:

• Maths and English GCSE (or equivalent)

• Excellent computer and keyboard literacy

• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to multitask

• Excellent Customer Service / Care skills and experience

• The ability to communicate effectively and articulately at all levels in writing and verbally

Previous experience as a medical administrator with knowledge of the E-referral system is desirable, however, full training will be provided.

The Package

This role will work 20 hours a week Monday – Friday 1pm to 5pm, with an hourly pay rate of between £ 9.63- £ 10.64 P/ hr. This role is a Grade S (NHS Band 3 equivalent). The Hospital offers staff benefits which include pension scheme (continuation in the NHS pension is possible subject to pension rules) and a starting full-time holiday entitlement of 25 days holiday (plus Bank holidays). As part of this role you will be required to complete mandatory training.
